Work that is engaging (or personally meaningful) is one-third of the GoodWork framework. What are some ways that you help young people identify and explore commitments that they find personally meaningful? How do you help them think about the implications enacting their dreams may have for others? -

I have found that asking students to take time to reflect is one way to help students explore personal commitments that they find meaningful. Students have maintained reflective journals on themes associated with good work. They have reflected on the case studies in the toolkit. They share their journal entries with peers. Students have commented that these exercises have helped them connect with what does hold meaning in their educational journey as well as in their early professional encounters. They expressed concern that if they fail to reflect, they will lose the opportunity to capture the implications of their work and their efforts to realize their dreams. These reflective exercises have been integrated into courses on the college level.
